"LMU3: Creating a World-Class Lean Enterprise" will be held November 10-12 at the Wyndham Center Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, Wis. The event will consist of pre-conference workshops on November 10 and our best practices conference on November 11-12. As was the case with LMU2 in Cleveland, the pre-conference workshops will be led by John Kim and Dave Melhus of Simpler Consulting.
For the best practices conference, confirmed speakers include:
• Bill Kimbro, corporate lean enterprise director, Kennametal (Latrobe, Pa.)
• George Ellis, director of integrated logistics, Raytheon (Reston, Va.)
• Sue Gillman, lean enterprise director, Seagate Technology (Minneapolis)
• Dr. Jay Lee, director of the Center for Intelligent Maintenance Systems, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
• Jim Kass, manufacturing manager, Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corporation (Port Washington, Wis.)
• Karen Weinstein, director of corporate procurement, Boston Scientific (Boston, Mass.)
• Dennis Schlernitzauer, director of manufacturing, ArvinMeritor (Fletcher, N.C.)
• Daniel Ariens, president, Ariens Company (Brillion, Wis.)
• operations manager (representative yet to be named), Harley-Davidson and Dale Boschke, director of technical services, Engman-Taylor Company (Milwaukee, Wis.)
• John Kim, former chief operating officer, The HON Company (Des Moines, Iowa)
• Ted Crandall, senior vice president, Rockwell Automation (Milwaukee, Wis.)
"LMU3" speakers will explain how they utilize lean tools such as Six Sigma, cellular manufacturing, agile, kaizen and 5-S, the Toyota Production System, Continuous Improvement, Total Productive Maintenance/Manufacturing, kanban and others.
Considering the quality of the speaker lineup and the rest of the companies that will be in attendance (the first two LMU conferences have been sold out and I am anticipating more than 150 delegates for this event), this will be a great opportunity to network and benchmark with people doing some really neat stuff.
