Co-workers at this Norfolk, Va., fabricator of rebar and affiliated steel products say Ronnie Nixon is the ultimate company man.

Nixon is a mechanical wizard with the knowledge to get the plant’s overhead cranes, steel-bending machines and delivery trucks running their best.  But according to them, he’s much more than that.

The nomination forms sent on his behalf describe an outgoing guy genuinely concerned about the well-being of his Hall-Hodges co-workers. Take safety, for instance. They list numerous occasions where he spotted less-than-safe work situations and came up with quick and lasting solutions. They also tell of constant reminders given to co-workers who might be using unsafe work practices or not correctly wearing personal protective equipment.

“He will take the time to show you how to do something right,” states one co-worker.

Outside of work, Nixon is also a people person. He’s heavily involved with local charities and volunteers at an area hospital for burned and injured children.
