MRO Today honors maintenance
and production workers who make
a difference with extraordinary
leadership, dedication and quality

by Paul V. Arnold

The last time someone asked you who your role model was, how old were you?  Twelve years old?  Ten, perhaps?

Why is that?  Role models are just as important for those age 30, 40, 50 or older as they are for kids.  Emulating someone with extraordinary gifts betters us personally and professionally.  Such people give us a target to shoot for.

Three months ago, MRO Today magazine asked for your help in finding role models in Americas manufacturing facilities.  We sought MRO All-Pros, non-management maintenance and production workers who make a difference at their plant through quality work, quick thinking, ideas and leadership.  You responded by nominating dozens of Pros.  From your nominations, MRO Today staff and advisors selected the best of the best for our inaugural MRO All-Pro Team.

Miracle worker, go-to guy, plant treasure and irreplaceable leader were phrases used to describe individual team members.  Reading through their stories, youll undoubtedly add role model to the list.  The workers selected will receive an All-Pro Team plaque and a prize donated by an MRO Today advertiser.

The All-Pro Team includes (click on each name for a full biography):

" Mat Dawson Jr., rigger and forklift driver, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Mich. Mat also was named our Pro of the Year.

" Allyn Ward, mechanical maintenance engineer, Trane Company, Pueblo, Colo.

" Richard Lauer, building equipment mechanic, United States Postal Service, Orlando, Fla.

" Robyn Conner, welder, Tennant Company, Minneapolis.

" Tom Duggins, mechanic, Bakery Chef Division of Quaker Oats, Louisville, Ky.

" Dave Radtke, maintenance lead, Autogard/Dynacorp, Rockford, Ill.

" Chad Chichester / Dan Warren, condition monitoring specialists, Dow Corning, Midland, Mich.
