Jim Martin is equipment systems manager at Intel's 6,000-employee facility in Chandler, Ariz., and one of the leading architects of Intel's High Precision Maintenance (HPM) program. In his 25 years at Intel, Jim has worked his way from the shop floor up to maintenance management. Today, Jim is involved in the ongoing development and implementation of the HPM program, which is "Intel-izing" a variety of Lean tools and Total Productive Maintenance elements to fit Intel's specific needs. Jim's focus is driving change through the organization as the company moves from a reactive to a predictive approach to system-wide maintenance. Jim will be discussing what the Intel High Precision Maintenance program consists of and how Intel got started on its journey. He will discuss why Intel felt the need to make a change and why they decided to use a NASCAR Pit Stop analogy to sell the Lean concept to employees. He will also be discussing the culture Intel is trying to build and the impact maintenance will have on the business.

His 32 years in manufacturing and maintenance training, consulting and work culture design gives him a keen insight to the solutions of today's challenges of equipment reliability. With experience in more than 400 different plant locations in the U.S., Jamaica, Canada, South America and Saudi Arabia, his examples provide rich, down-to-earth breakthroughs in equipment reliability thinking.
